Installing and Maintaining your Cartridges

Q Sometimes the print quality deteriorates and I am not sure why?

A Always follow the correct procedure for installing and maintaining your cartridges. If print quality deteriorates with normal use it often means that the print-heads have become blocked. These can be easily cleaned following the procedure shown below. Remember that frequent cleaning is important and will go along way in maintaining both your cartridge and printer.

Installing your Cartridges

1. Remove tape/clip from bottom of cartridge before installing in printer.

2. Once cartridge has been installed, perform at least one cleaning cycle.

3. If print quality deteriorates with normal use, repeat cleaning cycle.

4. Never remove a cartridge once installed, unless replacing with a new one.

Cleaning Cycle

Windows 95 / 98 / ME / 2000

1. Click on START in the bottom left hand corner of your desktop screen.

2. Go to SETTINGS and select PRINTERS.

3. Whilst highlighted RIGHT HAND CLICK and select PROPERTIES.

4. Go to UTILITY or MAINTENANCE and select HEAD CLEANING.

Windows XP

Same as above accept step 2 is replaced with 'Go to Control Panel and click on Printers & Faxes Icon'.

These steps will activate your printers cleaning cycle. Cleaning takes a couple of minutes but in severely blocked cases the cycle will need repeating several times

It is also worth noting that the cleaning cycle can be activated direct from your printer. For further information, or if in any doubt, always refer to the user guide.
